city where it was invented. We call it the "Belgi bite," because it is

The
Belgian Gaufre has a long history which started in the 12th century. In
this period the poor were allowed to take the left -over flour from the
rich land owners. They used this flour to make the gaufres. They would
establish sell-points in front of churches on religious holidays, thus
able to introduce them to the public.
About
50 years ago a woman by the name of Ivon Vangoidsinhoven invented a
special recipe for sugar waffles and started to sell it on the streets
of Brussels. It"s sweet taste, the feeling of satisfaction and the
pleasure of eating it makes it a huge success in Belgium and all over
Europe. Today, in Europe, this Belgium waffle delicacy is widely
popular and people enjoy them every hour of the day.
